Dear Abingdon High School Class of 1987, Can you believe it has been 20 years since we roamed the halls of Abingdon High? Well, it has, and it's time to celebrate that time by getting together for our 20th reunion! We have planned a party for Saturday, August 4th at the Glenrochie Country Club from 7:30 to midnight. The club will provide a buffet of light (appetizer-type) foods and desserts along with a cash bar. Songs from the 80's will set the mood as the DJ "Midnight Express" takes us back in time. We also planned a picnic Sunday, August 5th at 12:30. This event will be at Sugar Hollow Park in "Shelter A" for classmates and families (bring the kids!) If you will be traveling and will need help finding a babysitter for Saturday night, please let us know ASAP, as we probably can help you with that. A block of rooms have been reserved at the Comfort Inn at Exit 14 for a special rate of $69 on August 4th. The hotel phone number is (276) 676-2222; please reserve your room by July 15th because that is as long as they will hold the block. Those of you who may arrive Friday can meet informally at the Hardware restaurant. The AHS alumni "all-year reunion" is the same weekend and will also meet informally there, so you may run into some other old friends! The Virginia Highlands Festival will be in full swing, too, so plan to take that in on Saturday before the party. As you know, they have "something for everyone" at the Festival! In order to cut down on costs, this will be the only correspondence you will receive via "snail mail" regarding the reunion. We plan to update you via e-mail and, therefore, need everyone's e-mail address. We would like to do something special at the reunion like a slide show or superlatives, but we will need more information from you to do that; that is why it is so important that we have your e-mail address - we don't want to leave anyone out of the fun! Finally, we need your registration by July 15th so we know what we can afford to do. The cost for the event (which includes both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon) is $30 per person. It will certainly be worth it when you see all your old friends. We are looking forward to seeing you all in August!
